Designing instruction that responds to learners' needs and their surrounding context is now a critical process for developing learners with the competencies needed to become members of society's future workforce. Achieving that kind of effective instructional design requires teachers and instructional designers to understand a wide range of design processes and teaching strategies, and to receive guidance from experts across different fields.
Compiling learning resources related to instructional design and strategy, running workshops, and hosting discussions on related topics are further channels that help teachers and instructional designers build this understanding -- ultimately helping instruction meet its intended objectives and better serve its target learners.
The Faculty of Learning Sciences and Education recognizes the importance of improving the quality of teaching and learning, and has therefore established the Research and Development Centre for Learning and Teaching.
